‘Stolen Stories’— Inspirations for ‘What do you do in a Drawing Room?’

July 7, 2013
Like most writers I rarely dream up completely new ideas.  I tend to steal them instead, it’s easier!
When I was a student one of my friend’s really did have a downstairs cloakroom called The Travel Room covered in magazine cuttings just like grandma’s .  I also once saw a documentary about a house somewhere in The US that had a highly polished wooden slide from the landing down to the hall.  I wish I could remember where it was, it looked fantastic.  The idea of an enchanted painting ...

Getting in the Mood for Degas

June 16, 2013
I love, love, love Degas' art and really enjoyed the RA exhibition in London last year.  Am busy writing 'Junior Edgar Degas' at the moment so I thought I'd stick my head out of the writing burrow and post a couple of my favourites to share my rekindled enthusiasm. Here are two of his later, more vibrant (and, in my humble opinion, best) works.
