Online Colour Slide Shows For All Books

All 'SMART READS for Kids' and 'QUICK READS for Kids' books now have an accompanying online colour slide show containing all their paintings and illustrations.  So greyscale Kindle users now get to see the paintings in colour without having to buy a colour Kindle.  This also means teachers can put any image from any of the books up on their smart boards in class.

'QUICK READS for Kids' is Launched

Children are not idots!  They know when they're being educated and sometimes they just want to read a book for fun. So each of the 'SMART READS for Kids' Information books now has a sister book in the new 'QUICK READS for Kids' series.  In the latter, all the educational vocab, glossary, maths and history has been stripped out and the word count has been massively reduced.  Each book still covers the key facts, retains the interesting stories and bizarre anecdotes and has the cartoon characte...

Can’t Wait To Get Down To The RA Manet Exhibition!

Manet revolutionised portraiture at the end of the 19th Century by refusing to conform to the traditional method of modelling facial form.  Until he came along a portrait artist would cast a strong light upon their sitter (thus also creating strong shade) and then laboriously mix their skin tone, half tone, highlights, shadow edge, shadows and deep shadows (see the egg demo below that I give to my portrait classes).  This creates drama, which I personally love, but I’m still glad Manet came...
